In the heart of India’s agrarian landscape, the Telangana State Warehousing Corporation (TSWC) stands as a pivotal force, ensuring the safe storage and management of agricultural produce. Yet, as the demand for efficiency and accuracy grows, traditional methods can no longer keep pace. Enter Quixy‘s transformative collaboration with TSWC, a groundbreaking initiative poised to revolutionize how agricultural goods are managed across the state’s warehouses.

By integrating advanced automation and innovative technology, this partnership aims to overhaul manual processes, minimize errors, and optimize resource utilization. As we delve into this transformative journey, discover how the Telangana Warehouse Management System is set to redefine operational excellence, benefiting farmers and stakeholders alike through streamlined operations and enhanced market stability.

Pain Points in TSWC’s Current System

  1. Manual Data Entry: The existing system relies heavily on labour-intensive processes for project creation, fund requests, expense capture, and reporting. This approach is not only time-consuming but also prone to human errors, leading to inefficiencies and inaccuracies.
  2. Lack of Visibility: Without a centralized system, obtaining a unified view of projects and facilities is challenging. This lack of visibility hinders effective monitoring and management, resulting in suboptimal decision-making.
  3. Communication Challenges: The absence of dedicated communication channels leads to inefficiencies in information exchange and collaboration among stakeholders. This gap affects coordination and slows down response times to issues and queries.
  4. Tedious Reporting: Manual report generation is both time-consuming and error-prone. This hampers transparency and affects the quality of decision-making, as stakeholders often rely on outdated or incorrect data.

Introduction to the Warehouse Management System

The Telangana Warehouse Management System (WMS) represents a leap forward in optimizing the storage and handling of agricultural produce across the state’s warehouses. This advanced solution automates key processes such as inventory tracking, space allocation, and data management to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Real-time visibility into warehouse operations facilitates streamlined reservation and receipt processes, optimizing resource utilization.

The WMS integrates various modules, including Warehouse Management, Billing, and Quality Management. These modules support effective decision-making, improved communication, and regulatory compliance. By modernizing TSWC’s operational processes, the WMS not only enhances productivity but also ensures the secure and efficient management of agricultural produce, ultimately benefiting farmers and stakeholders throughout Telangana.

Implementing an integrated order processing system can enhance business productivity by 25%, reduce space usage by 20%, and increase stock utilization efficiency by 30%.

1. Reservation

Users select regional offices, warehouses, and specific godowns with compartments. Availability and reserved capacities are displayed for selected godowns. Reservations are submitted for specified durations and managed through cancellation or extension actions on the same screen. Cancelled reservations are tracked in a dedicated “Cancelled Reservations” screen, ensuring efficient warehouse space management.

2. Receipts (In-bound)

Stock arrival at warehouses from Road-fed, Rail-fed, and Rail-Road fed sources is managed efficiently. The system, initially focusing on Road-fed activity, ensures seamless handling of consignments directly from road transportation, with similar processes applicable to Rail-fed and Rail-Road fed sources.

  • Road-fed Inwards:  The Road-fed inwards process involves the arrival of consignments via trucks from depositors to the warehouse. This process ensures the smooth handling and receipt of goods directly from road transportation.
  • Rail-fed Inwards: The Rail-fed inwards process involves the receipt of consignments transported by train wagons from depositors to the warehouse. This method of transportation ensures large-scale delivery of goods over longer distances, requiring specialized handling upon arrival at the warehouse.
  • Rail-Road fed Inwards: The Rail-Road fed inwards process combines railway and road transportation for consignment delivery to the warehouse. Consignments begin their journey on train wagons from the depot, traveling over long distances efficiently. Upon reaching a nearby railway station, they are transferred to trucks for the final leg to the warehouse.

3. Weighbridge

The Weighbridge process involves weighing trucks before and after loading or unloading goods at the warehouse. Here’s a simplified overview:

Weighbridge process

Loaded trucks undergo initial weighing, followed by unloading and Inward Quality Check using the Inward QC app. Accepted consignments are stacked, while rejected ones are removed from receipts and listed on the rejected consignments screen. Tare weight of empty trucks is recorded post-unloading, ensuring precise tracking and quality control.

Consignments are assigned stack IDs based on available capacity. Single or multiple stacks are utilized as per requirements, with detailed stack history and existing details verified for efficient utilization. Modifications can be made using the Modify Stack screen post-stacking.

Upon completing the stacking, the Receipts process concludes, and the next phase is Quality Management.

5. Quality Management

This phase offers Offers Perform QC for initial checks, Consecutive QC for ongoing assessments, and On-Demand QC for ad-hoc inspections. The Inspection app classifies and categorizes stacks, while the Treatment app applies specific chemical treatments according to classifications, ensuring quality and compliance.
